Why you can't a find a bra higher than a DDD cup in most stores

At Lingerie DEBra, we often get asked: Why can’t I find my bra size in most stores?
The answer to this question is twofold: Most traditional retailers only sell A to DDD cups. The more sizes a retailer stocks, the larger their inventory needs to be and the more expensive it is to maintain. So, it is more cost-effective for lingerie retailers to stock a smaller size range and just “fit” people into this range. (More on that later).
Reason Number Two: People with larger cups and/or band sizes are dealing with more tissue than those who wear smaller sizes. So this requires employing staff with more training, expertise and knowledge. Which means paying higher wages.
Now, circling back to reason number 1, traditional lingerie retailers will often stock a range of bands from 32 to 42 and cups A to DDD. Then, they will fit their clientele into this range by doing what we call “sister-sizing”
Sister sizing is when you increase the band size to increase the cup volume.
For example, if you are a 32I in US sizing, a store can give you a 38DDD and this bra will have the same cup volume as a 32I.
BUT A 38 band will not provide the support that someone who measures as a 32 band needs. So even though your breasts will fit into the cup, you will have to wear the bra on the tightest hook and within a few wears the band will ride up your back as the weight of your breasts pulls the bra down. In other words, you’ll be getting no support.
